Coal Operator Job (Trading and Investment), Jakarta, Indonesia

Monroe Consulting Group is recruiting on behalf of a reputable trading and investment company. Our respected client is seeking an experienced coal operator to oversee coal logistics in Indonesia. Reporting directly to the Head of Operations in Singapore, with interaction with other members of the team in Jakarta and Singapore, the successful candidate must be experienced in Indonesian supply chain coal logistics. The winning candidate will look forward to the challenge of working in a start-up environment.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Working together with the regional office, implement or improve logistics SOP’s for the company
  • Working closely with the traders, manage supply chain logistics in coal trading
  • Manage loading slots with suppliers, push for quick loading and jetty allocation
  • Control and report transshipment costs - jetty costs, pilotage, tug assist etc
  • Control and report transshipment demurrage/dispatch costs, including for barges and floating crane
  • Ensure payments for transshipments are arranged on time, as well as chase back any demurrage money owed to the company
  • Provide suppliers with documentation instructions, including SKAP and PEB for each vessel, SOF/NOR, Quality/Quantity Certificates
  • Consolidate information regarding quality. E.g. monitor barge quality results and highlight should any barge results are out of spec or will affect the blend etc
  • Appointment of surveyors and regularly keeping in touch with surveyors to ensure we get timely reports on quality
  • Liaising with Samarinda/Sumatra personnel, act as a main contact for Singapore Operations regarding barge movements, docs processing status at provincial Trade Office
  • Maintain a good relationship with transshipment service providers and agents etc
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • At least 5 years’ work experience, including at least 2 years relevant coal operations experience
  • Experienced in working for Tier 1 Coal Trading house is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge in the Indonesian Coal Trading Business, including logistics procedures
  • Experience working for a start-up operation
  • Experience working in a matrix reporting to Regional Office
  • Has an established relationship with government, transshipment service providers, agents
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Taking on challenge mentality with willingness to learn
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel to Sumatra and Samarinda
  • Fluent English
